Contemporary extension of an old house
The annex of this 19th-century house could not accommodate the owners' plans, which included designing a ground-floor office as well as a self-contained apartment intended for hotel-style accommodation. To carry out this project, a horizontal and vertical extension of the building was necessary.
This extension, carried out by an architect, made it possible to redistribute the new openings according to use, orientation, and views. Subject to planning constraints, the overall massing of the extension also had to relate to the rest of the rehabilitation — indeed, it was essential to establish a dialogue with the 19th-century building.
